What to expect from counselling:
Feel better and see your problems differently
Welcome!
My name is Lorna Livingston, I am a BACP registered psychodynamic therapist based in Dulwich (SE22 0JY). My pronouns are she/her.
By seeking therapy, you have already taken the first step towards change. My role is to provide a confidential, non-judgemental and accepting space for you to explore your emotions, issues and difficulties and express your thoughts and feelings.
My aim is to help you gain a better understanding of your situation. As your counsellor, I enable you to be truly heard, which can be a profoundly healing process.
About Me
Before training as a counsellor, I worked in Financial Markets for 15 years in the City of London. Since qualifying I have worked alongside the NHS, within private practice and in education with young children. I am passionate about the potential counselling offers to bring about positive change within our lives.
Training & Qualifications
As a psychodynamic counsellor, I am able to work with clients from different backgrounds who may be dealing with a variety of challenges.
I have experience working with referrals from the NHS, self-referrals and of working with young people in education. I have a diploma in Attachment Based Counselling from the Wimbledon Guild. I am a registered member of the BACP and abide by their code of conduct and ethical requirements for professional practice.
Attachment based counselling focuses on early childhood experiences and how these formative years can influence our lives as adults. Through exploring your early years, as well as more recent history, I will help you better understand your current situation and any issues you are facing.
Counselling helps with issues such as:
Bereavement & Grief
Depression
Stress
Anxiety
Trauma
Eating Disorders

What is Counselling?
You may be going through a particularly difficult time with your family, relationships or work. Or going through a time of transition, for example, having suffered a bereavement or redundancy.
Private counselling provides a safe space in which to talk and reflect on your situation. Whilst I do not give advice, talking to someone outside the situation can help you think about what you are going through and the choices you may have. Counselling services can bring about a more objective perspective and have a beneficial affect on your emotional life.
Counselling is the process that occurs when a client and counsellor set aside time to explore difficulties which may include the stressful or emotional feelings of the client. The act of helping the client to see things more clearly, possibly from a different view-point can enable the client to focus on feelings, experiences or behaviour, with a goal of facilitating positive change. Confidentiality creates a relationship of trust between the counsellor and client which is paramount for an open and honest dialogue in the counselling process.
How Counselling Works
Initial Consultation:
Before we can start with the therapy it is important to have an initial consultation in which I will gather information about you, your background, and what has brought you to therapy. This is an opportunity for you to learn more about the way in which I work, and to see if you feel comfortable and happy to proceed, if you do, we will work out a plan collaboratively on how best we can work together to get the most out of your sessions.
The Therapy:
After the initial consultation, the therapy will start, we will meet weekly at a time that is mutually convenient. I offer a down to earth, confidential, non-judgmental space, where we explore your emotions, issues and difficulties, and find ways in which we can work to improve these.
Fees:
Sessions cost from £85.00 at my SE22 location and for online appointments. I am also able to offer a limited amount of concessionary rates to those in need.
